Too often, we get lost in the complications and frivolities of our daily lives. Between balancing work or school, exercise, hobbies, and a social life, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and worn down. For starters, we’ve put together these 5 simple steps for a greater quality of life.

1. Go for a long walk

Exercise can help to lower stress and take your mind off of unnecessary clutter. But rather than hitting the gym, consider taking a long walk somewhere away from bustle and noise. The calming scenery can help you decompress, while giving you an appreciation for the peace and quiet of nature. Research has proven that spending time in nature can have great benefits for your body and mind.

2. Take a day off to truly disconnect

The buzz of phone calls, texts and emails have become such a natural part of our everyday lives that we forget what it’s like to be content with the essentials. When you need a stress-free environment, take a day to disconnect from technology and media. It may be difficult at first, but the clarity and zen at the end of the day will be worth it.

3. Make a to-do list

Streamline your life by planning out your tasks and creating a simplified, yet efficient, system. Whether you need to get housework done, run errands, or work on a project, breaking down your tasks into a list can help you to stay focused and organized. Not to mention, checking off each task will give you a sense of satisfaction and achievement.

4. Find time for yourself

Spend time doing what you love and/or take some time alone to find your inner voice. Finding inner peace and quiet can help you to clear your mind and discover what it is that is truly important to you.

5. Make good food choices

Keeping your body healthy starts with food - it’s that simple. Begin by cutting out processed foods that are fatty and sugary; instead fill your diet with good, clean food choices that are high in nutrients. Even the smallest changes in your diet can improve your mood and energy levels. Taking control of your food choices will ultimately bringing you a greater quality of life.
