How To Make a DIY Waffle Bar

June 15, 2016

We all know how crucial weekend brunching is, and there’s nothing quite like waking up on a Saturday or Sunday morning to a breakfast spread. When it comes to the perfect pancake or waffle deciding on one topping the happiest struggle you’ll ever face. But don’t worry, we’ve put together a list of mix-n-match toppings to start your weekend morning (or afternoon). From start to finish, the process takes about 30 minutes and you’ll feel satisfied knowing you whipped together a masterpiece!

Here are our favorite topping variations you can use to wow your friends and family:

Strawberries & Coconut Butter

- 1 container of strawberries

- ¼ cup coconut butter, melted (we prefer this brand)

Cinnamon-Sugar Roasted Apples & Peanut Butter

-1 organic apple

-1 tsp coconut sugar

-½ tbsp coconut oil, melted

-2 tbsp all natural peanut butter

For roasting apples: Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Slice apple into small cubes, drizzle with coconut oil and coconut sugar, roast for 20 minutes, turn and rotate the apples, roast for an additional 20.

Greek Yogurt, Blackberries & Honey

-1 small container of organic blackberries

-1 tbsp honey or maple syrup

-1 5.3oz container of favorite greek yogurt (or dairy-free)

Banana, Almond Butter and Granola

-½ cup of banana chips (look for the unsweetened version!)

-2 tbsp raw almond butter (the best for a drizzle)

-½ cup of your favorite granola (we prefer this brand)

Blueberries & Hemp Seeds

-⅓ cup frozen blueberries

-2 tbsp shelled hemp seeds

Raspberry Chia Jam with Dark Chocolate Chips

-1 cup fresh organic raspberries

-½ cup chia seeds

-1 tbsp honey

-¼ cup 70% dark chocolate, fair-trade chocolate chips

-To make the chia jam: Combine raspberries, chia seeds and honey into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until mixture thickens. Once it begins to thick, turn to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Set into a mason jar or bowl and place in fridge for at least 4 hours to cool and set.
